About this event

Join us as we travel to Harrisburg to highlight and advocate for the importance of out-of-school time opportunities in Pennsylvania! Parents, program providers, youth, educators, faith-based leaders, and community and business leaders from across the state will unite at The Pennsylvania Capitol to engage with legislators.
Traveling with APOST Overview
- Coach bus transportation to and from Harrisburg will be provided by APOST.
- When filling out this registration form, you can indicate how many students you're bringing.
- The approximate trip time, including travel, will be 5:30am-7pm.
- Buses will depart from the Waterfront Eat'n Park (245 E. Waterfront Dr. Homestead, PA 15120) at 5:45AM SHARP.
- Morning snacks, drinks, and lunch will be provided for all participants by APOST.
Bringing Youth
Each attending adult needs to complete their own registration form. If multiple people of one organization attend and are bringing youth, determine which adult will include the total number of youth on their registration form.
Important Note: Registering to travel with APOST is separate from registering with the Pennsylvania Afterschool Advocacy Day event itself. Please make sure you follow all steps below to complete the necessary registration for both the event AND traveling with APOST!

Training & Overview Call (Required)
To prepare for the event, APOST is hosting a required call on Friday, May 23 from 10:30am - 12pm to review information for the trip. We will be joined by Jamie Baxter of Allies for Children to recieve to provide guidance on meeting with legislators and to go over all trip details and logistics. Please attend this call if you are available. If you are unable to make it, please let us know so we can provide you the necessary information.

The latest you can fill out this form to claim seats is end of day on Friday, May 9 as we need to confirm our reservation with the bus company 21 days before the trip.
The coach buses will depart from, and arrive back at, the Waterfront Eat'n Park (245 E. Waterfront Dr., Homestead, PA 15120). You can park your car in the rear part of the parking lot and leave it there for the day.
No. The bus(es) need to leave the Waterfront at exactly 5:45am, so that we arrive in Harrisburg for your first legislative meeting.
No, the bus won't stop for breakfast on the way to Harrisburg. However, APOST will have breakfast snacks and drinks for everyone on the bus! You are welcome to bring any additional items you may want for the duration of the trip.
The cost of lunch will be covered by APOST and PSAYDN. This means everyone will receive a meal voucher to use in the Capitol restaurant for lunch. Lunch will be at 12pm in the East Wing (lower level), Room 61E Restaurant.
Yes. On the way back to Pittsburgh, the bus will stop at a rest step (location tbd) for folks to get food and/or snacks for the remainder of the trip. Please plan to bring either money to buy food or bring food from home to eat at dinnertime.
APOST will provide printed maps and materials to everyone who gets on the bus. You can also view an online map here: https://site.pheedloop.com/event/PaAfterschoolAdvocacyDay2025/capitol-map. There will also be folks working in the Capitol building you can ask for help, so don't hesitate to ask!
These meetings will be organized by PSAYDN and the information about them will be provided to you before we get to the State Capitol.
We will depart the Capitol by 2:45pm after the press conference. The bus(es) are expected to arrive at the Waterfront by 7pm. The bus(es) will not leave the Capitol until everyone is accounted for. It is important for all adults traveling with students to have their students' cell phone numbers.
